Gaga
Gaga is a movement language which Ohad Naharin developed over the course of many years and which is applied in daily practice and exercises by the Batsheva Dance Company members. The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever-changing power of movement, and it continues to evolve today.
Gaga is a new way of gaining knowledge and self-awareness through your body. Gaga provides a framework for discovering and strengthening your body and adding flexibility, stamina, and agility while lightening the senses and imagination. Gaga raises awareness of physical weaknesses, awakens numb areas, exposes physical fixations, and offers ways for their elimination. The work improves instinctive movement and connects conscious and unconscious movement, and it allows for an experience of freedom and pleasure in a simple way, in a pleasant space, in comfortable clothes, accompanied by music, each person with himself and others.

About the creation
The inspiration for this solo was taken from a painting by Miriam
Cabessa that presents a tiny couple of red palms drowning in the
distance while a bigger couple is smeared downwards in an endless blue space.
This piece of art itself and it’s painting technique created a strong feeling of
a silent scream that I wish to translate to a physical texture and was connected
to a whole inner world that was hidden inside me, locked freedom.
During the process of creation, new layers were added from my personal life and from a book I have read; “Gentleman Overboard” by Herbert Clyde Lewis, a black comedy about a wall street banker who falls overboard while travelling on a freighter in the South Pacific and drowns.
The combination of both, paint and book, is connected and supporting the emotion of being helpless during a lost fight in front of much bigger force in an endless world, such an ocean, or that parallel inner world that exists inside me, my body, imagination or soul.
Im aiming to explore this small insignificant human being that is trying to struggle and to penetrate through this place to a very basic instinct of survival, giving up, being swallowed and defeated. Like that drowning person facing the rising water, accepting them, floating on them, physically and emotionally.
Using these emotions and sensations I was trying to build a body language by researching tensions, objectification, floatation with my body in the space around me.
